As a Chinese medicine practitioner, Keren Dray believes much of her clients’ ailments can be traced back to food.
“I realized that most disease and illness is related to food consumed by clients,” said the owner of La Family Foods. “From simple stuff like pain to blood pressure to cancer — everything is related to what we eat.”
She wanted to be able to provide her clients with fresh, quality produce so she created a food delivery business called La Family Foods.
Dray and her family moved from Richmond Hill to Mount Albert in December 2025, because she wanted more space and access to farmers.
In providing fresh produce like fruits and vegetables, she prioritizes local farmers, trying to source much of her produce from them, she said.
Dray aims for zero waste, meaning no leftover paper or plastic. She uses wooden crates for delivery, so she doesn’t leave customers with paper bags.
If any food is leftover, she donates it to food banks or local charities, she said.
