High-Speed Fibre Expanding in East Gwillimbury
Source: YorkNet's Network Expansion Update: Fall 2026 (eNewsletter)
YorkNet continues to expand high-speed fibre internet infrastructure to eligible rural and underserved homes in East Gwillimbury through the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF).
Now available in Queensville: Eligible homes in the following areas can now access high-speed internet services through Galaxy Fibre:
- 2nd Concession and Holborn Road
- Warden Avenue and Holborn Road
Coming soon to Mount Albert: YorkNet crews are completing fibre installations and testing in two Mount Albert areas:
- Herald Road and McCowan Road: Home connections expected to begin in late November 2026
- Pelosi Way and McCowan Road: Home connections expected to begin in December 2026
Once the network is activated, individual home connections will be tested before Galaxy Fibre begins booking in-home installations.
Is Your Home Eligible?
The project focuses on eligible homes in underserved areas with internet speeds below 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
Eligible residents can request a fibre connection from the property line to their home at no cost, even if they are not ready to sign up for internet service. There is no obligation to activate service, and installing the connection now can help avoid potential installation costs or delays in the future.
Residents can use YorkNet’s interactive map to check whether their address is eligible under the Universal Broadband Fund.
